This page explains what information we collect when you use our website or work with us, what we do with it and the choices you have. We've kept it in plain English.

The short version

  • We only collect what you give us, so we can get back to you or look after your website.
  • We don't send marketing emails, and we never sell or share your details for marketing.
  • Website enquiries stay on our website and in our email. They don't go into any other system.
  • We don't use Google Analytics.
  • You can ask us to see, change or delete your details at any time.

Who we are

This website is run by My Local Trades Ltd ("we", "us"). We're responsible for the personal information collected through this website, and we follow the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

If you have a question about this policy or your information, please use our contact form or call us on 01634 553875.

What we collect and why

When you fill in a form. Our contact form and our calculators ask for things like your name, email address, phone number, your website address and your message. We use this to get back to you about your enquiry, and nothing else. It's kept in our website and in the email thread with you.

When you book a call. Our free chat bookings are handled by Calendly. When you book, Calendly collects your name, email address and the time you've chosen, and sends you the meeting link. You can read Calendly's privacy notice.

When you become a customer. To build and look after your website we'll need your business details, the information and photos you send us, and sometimes login details for your domain. These are stored privately and only used to do the work you've asked for. We also keep the records we need to bill you and run your account.

When you browse the website. We use our own visitor tracker, MLT Tracker, instead of Google Analytics. It records the pages you visit and for how long, the website or search that brought you here, whether you click our phone number or WhatsApp link, your IP address, and your type of browser and screen size. It helps us see which pages are working. It stays on our own servers and isn't shared with anyone.

Why we're allowed to use it

  • To reply to you. When you send an enquiry or book a call, we use your details because you've asked us to get in touch.
  • To do the work. When you're a customer, we use your details to deliver what we've agreed with you.
  • Legitimate interests. We count visits to our pages so we can make the website better, and we use reCAPTCHA to keep spam and bots out of our forms.
  • The law. We keep financial records for as long as HMRC requires.

Other services on our website

A few parts of our website come from other companies. They may set their own cookies and collect information under their own privacy policies:

  • Google reCAPTCHA on our forms, to stop spam. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Calendly, for booking a free chat.
  • Our reviews widget, which shows our Google reviews.
  • Google Maps, on our contact page.

Who we share it with

We don't sell, rent or trade your information, and we don't pass it on for marketing. We only share it when we have to:

  • with the services above, as part of using them
  • with our accountant, for our accounts
  • if the law requires it

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries are kept for as long as we need them to deal with what you asked about.
  • Visitor tracking records are kept so we can compare how the website does over time.
  • Customer records are kept while you're a customer and for up to 6 years afterwards, because HMRC requires us to keep financial records for that long.
  • You can ask us to delete your details sooner, unless we have to keep them by law.

Keeping it safe

Our website runs on our own managed servers in the UK, over a secure connection. Only our team can see enquiries and customer information, and only when they need to.

Cookies

Our website itself only sets a cookie if you log in. MLT Tracker doesn't use cookies. It keeps a random visit number in your browser that's deleted when you close the tab, so it can tell the pages of one visit apart from another. The other services listed above may set their own cookies when you use them, for example when you send a form or book a call.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask what information we hold about you and get a copy
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong
  • ask us to delete your information
  • object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it
  • ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere

Just get in touch. We'll reply within one month, and there's no charge.

Children

Our services are for businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first and we'll put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office on 0303 123 1113 or at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if anything changes. It was last updated in October 2026.
